The British Shorthair is a medium to large, well-balanced and muscular cat with a relatively compact body and short sturdy legs. The head is broad and round with large round eyes giving a sweet intelligent expression. They are slow developing and generally come to full maturity at about two to four years of age. The British Shorthair is usually patient and good-natured. They are an independent cat but can form strong bonds to a person or family. They are devoted cats and make ideal, loving companions.
